Scope of Work

The Andover ice system includes an industrial grade refrigeration system that is designed for year round operation and providing efficient operation, low maintenance, and high performance. The system will serve the facility for over 25 years. The ice arena also has a layout that allows easy access to all equipment for safe and easy operation and maintenance. This arena has a waste heat recovery system that captures “free heat” from the refrigeration system and uses it for melting ice shavings in the snow melt pit and for heating the sub-soils beneath the ice rink floor for frost protection. And finally the rink has a sand floor with a fusion welded polyethylene piping system which makes for a seamless, low maintenance design. The construction of this facility took place in 2003 and in 2018 City of Andover continued with a rink expansion, which B32 Engineering assisted with this continued project.
