B32 Engineering Group specializes in the planning, consultation, design, and construction administration of the ice system for ice arena facilities. As a nationally recognized leader in the ice rink industry we have completed over 250 very successful ice rink projects ranging from community based facilities, outdoor skating surfaces, curling facilities, Division 1 College facilities to NHL facilities.
We embrace the use of renewable and sustainable materials and techniques in our standard design practices. We place them front and center during our continuous efforts to research and find new approaches, technologies, and environmentally-friendly materials and refrigerants. A few examples include: our on-going evaluation, analysis and application of CO2 as a refrigerant and the first applications of CO2 in the United States (B32 was the first in the United States to use CO2 in an ice rink application); our continued new applications for using waste heat in the facility; and our very successful application using a municipal water source as a geothermal source of energy. We strongly believe that ice systems designed for longevity and minimal operation and maintenance costs will use less energy, require fewer repairs, and will play a key role in the facility’s success.
Our on-going success is attributed to the passion we have for these unique facilities, ice sports in general, and the personal attention we provide for each and every project. Our involvement in the industry not only includes the professional services we provide, but the many hours we have spent as users of these facilities as hockey players, volunteer coaches, coaching coordinators, referees, etc. and overall long term supporters of the volunteer organizations that grow and support these sports. The combination of personal and professional experiences has proven invaluable to the success of our design projects.
